There is a Starbucks located in the concert hall on the island. It’s only a 5 minute walk from here to the other side. Two days ago I went in the afternoon to buy some ground coffee. It’s ridiculously expensive but we all make choices and I choose to have coffee that I love. Because it was so hot I needed, yes needed, an iced coffee. I sat along the river walk in the shade and the heat was tolerable, I’d even go so far as to say it was pleasant. Er Sha Island is very peaceful, calm, and quiet so I sat for an hour and contemplated life. When I walked back home I decided to do it again the next day only I was going to bring my camera and Kindle.

There is a beautiful park that divides the island in half. The island is about 1/3 mile wide and not quite 2 miles long. It’s a small bubble. We walk through it to get to the “other side.” There are always people weeding, watering, planting, trimming, and sweeping. The place is spotless and again very quiet. I thought it would be nice to show you some photos. There’s not much writing today, I think the pictures capture it all. It’s beautiful here and for us I believe we couldn’t have made a better choice on where to live.

About vikarenously

I am an ex-pat living in Guangzhou, China. I am married to the man of my dreams who has indulged my love of travel by working hard enough to snag two international assignments. Oh yes, I also have two amazing children who accompanied us on our first one to Switzerland and are now mature and responsible adults which makes it so easy for us to experience this adventure as empty-nesters. Experience it vicariously with Karen.
